Bobbie and Steve were such a lovely couple. Bobbie
came to me initially and almost apologetically confessed
that "I know absolutely nothing about flowers!". I had to
grin :). No problem, I assured her - that's MY job!

What Bobbie did know (and she knew much more than
she gave herself credit for!), was that above all she wanted
a "Spring" wedding - that is, she wanted the feeling of
abundance, of lush bounty, of things coming back to life
after the long, cold winter. She had chosen deep plum
gowns for her Bridesmaids, and knew she wanted alot of
rich colors.

After talking with Bobbie and looking over lots of
pictures, I found that her sensibilities definitely leaned
towards a very billowy and full, romantic style - to
materialize that look of Spring abundance, I knew we
would create for her dense arrangements and bouquets
positively bursting and overflowing with blossoms. Spring
bulbs including Tulips, Hyacinth, and Muscari were
paired with full-blown roses, hydrangea, and seasonal
Anemones. To keep the overall look from being too
structured or formal, garden wildflowers and foliage such
as Delphinium, Spirea, Larkspur, and pepperberry were
added to the mix.

Bobbie knew she wanted color, but was at a loss for the
exact color scheme. To further enhance the "Spring
abundance" theme, we landed on a gorgeous
monochromatic palette that incorporated very rich,
saturated shades of raspberry, fuschia, strawberry pinks,
grape, plum, and lilac. The colors stood out like
glimmering jewels, and positively "popped" against the
white cloud-filled springtime sky, and the vast blue ocean
vistas that surrounded the golf course. Huge stone Garden
Urns dominated the ceremony site, filled to overflowing
with a wild mix of Spring blooms - draping Tulips, roses,
hydrangea, delphinium, anemones, and amaranthus.
Along the aisle, Antique Gold stanchions held lush
displays of the same flowers, in gorgeous jewel tones.
After the ceremony, the stanchions were moved inside, to
be used as dramatic tall centerpieces, on half of the
reception tables.

Inside the Clubhouse Ballroom, another type of
centerpiece featured a low display composed of four small
rustic square Urns, each filled with a different spring
flower "en masse". The display was encircled with clusters
of polished fruits - mini pears, limes, and deep purple
grapes.

Bobbie preferred a cleaner, more formal look for her
own, as well as her Attendants' bouquets. For her
Bridesmaids, we crafted handtied posies featuring elegant
plum and lilac Calla lilies, purple tulips, feathery pink
Astilbe, and roses in pink and raspberry. Bobbie's own
bouquet was a stunning composition all in bridal ivory
and white, with just the barest hint of blush and taupe.
Many different flower types were used, to create textural
interest, in this mainly one-toned bouquet. The result was
a very feminine and elegant nosegay of Calla lilies, tulips,
fragrant tuberose, Astilbe, and roses. The bouquet was
also a wonderful complement to the intricate floral
beading detail on Bobbie's gown bodice.

We also went with softer colors for the Flowergirl's hair
Halo and petal Basket. Sweet baby rosebuds in soft pinks,
and palest green hydrangea encircled her adorable head,
as she scattered fresh pink rose petals down the ceremony
aisle.

In the end, this beautiful and fresh Spring day in May was
the perfect time for a gorgeous Spring wedding full of
rich color, lush romance and bounty - just as Bobbie had
dreamed of!
